Taste of Ireland
You don't have to wait till you have time for an extended trip. Go beyond your Travel Channel armchair today. Treat yourself and someone you love to A Taste of Ireland right here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania!
Ceol agus Craic is like a mini vacation!
We call it Ceol agus Craic - Music and a Good Time. You're sitting round a table with people from diverse backgrounds with a common desire - to experience Ireland. You connect instantly because your curiosity and zest for adventure is a common bond. Strains of traditional music and Celtic harp alternate in the background.
Your host proposes a toast. Slainte, you echo as glasses clink. You've been transported to a timeless Irish stage where you are cast in the role of Celtic wanderer. Before the day is over, you will surprise yourself by speaking Irish jargon like a local and maybe even eloquently propose a toast of your own.
What else can you expect?
To be sure, you'll raise your glass in a rollicking toast or two. After all, wasn't it the Celts who first came up with the idea? Though you won't get to stand on the table to execute your toast! You'll learn a quick way to compose a personal toast of your own that's easy to remember. Then you'll take a sip while inviting others to do the same. The beverage can be wine, Guinness, tea or juice - whatever the company is drinking.
Maybe, you'll want to spend more time on Inside Ireland Tips & Travelogue. Focus on where to go for traditional Irish music and how to eat like a local. Find our where to buy authentic souvenirs at a more reasonable cost than at the Gift Shops. Learn the secret to driving on the left and how to navigate the roundabouts. Discover what not to pack or what not to wear. Get started on your itinerary or get feedback on where you think you'd like to go.
To be sure, you'll gain some Irish Vocabulary. You'll learn some car-talk so you can tell the difference between the boot and the bonnet. You'll be confused initially to know that cookies are biscuits, biscuits are scones, bacon is rashers and boiled ham is bacon. You may know that French fries are chips, but did you know that potato chips are crisps? And wouldn't you like to know the meaning of eejit or gobshyte, just in case ...
Maybe you'll want to visually ramble the strange Burren landscapes - limestone sculpted by salt-bearing winds, eroding waves and retreating ice; marvel at the Giant's Causeways with their honeycomb pavements, hexagon stones and natural basalt columns. Let your dreams be colored by 40 shades of patchwork green countryside and shaped by ring forts, castles, and standing stones.
To be sure, you'll taste some traditional Irish fare - simply delicious soda breads or scones, that you help prepare with an Irish Stew served pub-grub style. Or maybe just whet your appetite with a wholesome variety of Starters, as you learn some easy recipes or sample what they mean by "Full Irish Breakfast" any time of day.
Don't put it on the long finger (don't procrastinate) - invite a friend or two for some Ceol agus Craic right here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Or, celebrate a special occasion by doing something different! (Minimum 3 - maximum 6 people).
